A swordsman from a strange land is caught in a struggle between morality, righteousness, and
devotion as he reluctantly agrees to take a raggedy boy and his dog to a remote, Buddhist temple.
Zhang Ji Zhong’s latest Jin Yong adaption on the last part of the Condor Trilogy - Yi Tian
Tu Long Ji, or The Heavenly Sword and Dragon Saber 2009. The landscape looks dreamy, epic, and
beautiful - it reminds one of the fantasy-like world that was created for Return of the
Condor Heroes 2006 (ROCH). Hopefully, the producers won’t spend all their budget on the
scenery and forget to tell a proper story though as they did with ROCH. Some scenes look
overly-CGI’ed, especially the introduction of Tse Sun and his lion’s roar wielding the
Dragon Saber. The Dragon Saber also looks ridiculously huge and stunted in length. I realize that
the Heavenly Sword didn’t make an appearance in the trailers either - marketing gimmick?
